Meet an innoFaither: Kimberly Daniel

Meet Kimberly Daniel, Co-founder and Project Director of DO GOOD X and talented Brand and Communications Consultant. Kimberly, who hails from a small city outside of Myrtle Beach, SC, and has lived for over 16 years in and around Atlanta, GA, passionately uplifts and supports underrepresented innovators. She is also co-author of A Way Out of No Way: an Approach to Christian Innovation and an innoFaith Contributing Editor.

What faith(s), if any, do you practice? How does your tradition and/or spiritual practice inspire or influence you as an innovator?

I grew up as a preacher’s kid after my father shifted from being a musician to a singing pastor in my childhood years. My Christian roots and practices run deep for me and on both sides of my family with devout Baptists, Catholics, and United Methodists, and those in the African Methodist Episcopal church. It has also been significant and a gift for me to connect with the practices of my ancestors in honoring nature and the sacredness of the earth.

My spiritual practices inspire me to approach innovation in ways that lead people to cultivate a deeper sense of purpose, well-being, community, and connection to the Earth and to flourish.

What are you currently working on?

I'm collaborating with purpose-driven organizations to help develop strategies to strengthen their brand and storytelling efforts to better connect with their communities. I'm also preparing to launch two refreshed DO GOOD X accelerator programs in 2025, supporting our alumni, building meaningful relationships, and developing our new DO GOOD X podcast.

What can we find you doing when you’re not working?

I love being outside—long walks, running, sitting by rivers and the ocean, and simply taking in the beauty of nature. In addition, I find energy, joy, and resiliency in martial arts—particularly Muay Thai. I am also inspired by meaningful conversations with friends and family and exploring ways to bring more playfulness into each day!

What is piquing your curiosity these days?

I tend to carry a sense of curiosity in all aspects of my life. In my work with DO GOOD X and values-driven entrepreneurs, I often wonder: How might we deepen our support for underrepresented founders to better set them up for success in a field where typically only 1 out of 10 entrepreneurs succeed?  How might our businesses leverage technology for good? How might our businesses better center the community in our efforts so that we better impact the lives of those around us intentionally and authentically?

What is something you’d like help on?

If you or someone you know might be interested in participating in the DO GOOD X Startup Accelerator or getting involved with our efforts, I would love to connect!

What is something you can offer others in the innoFaith network?

I can be a conversation partner, connector, or resource in the areas of faith, social entrepreneurship, innovation, communications, and leadership.
